Gajga
The supreme battle standard of the Khalsa. The Asthbujha. This pavitar Shastar used to ride atop the puratan Nishaan Sahibs of the Khalsa. Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji Maharaj bestowed this symbol representing the supreme shakti of Akaal Purakh Waheguru, and then Satguru blessed the Khalsa with this symbol of supreme power.
This Shastar is preserved at Takht Sri Hazoor Sahib along with the Karhavan (slippers) of Dhan Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji and other Shastar.
Jhoolde Nishaan Rehe Panth Maharaj Ke!
Many Singhs wear smaller Asthbhujas on their Dumalle, Gajgas and Farlas. In Sikh history, only one who had ageya (permission) from a Jathedar through showing high levels of seva, bani or Shastar Vidhya was allowed to wear them. Without the status of a “Mahakaal Singh”, one was not permitted to wear these. These attributes of Gajgas and Farlas were seen in the battle standards of Satguru themselves.
